Cookie policy

The short answer: this site sets no cookies, and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking. This page lists the few small items it does keep in your browser, so you can see exactly what they are.

In short

  • No cookies, from us or anyone else.
  • No analytics, advertising or tracking tools.
  • Four small items in your browser's storage: three only when you ask for them, one for the spam check on the form.
  • Nothing here needs your consent, so there is no cookie banner. If that ever changes, we will ask first.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file a site saves in your browser and reads again on your next visit. This site sets none, and neither do the services it uses: not our hosting, not the fonts, which we serve ourselves, and not the spam check on the contact form.

What is stored, item by item

Browsers also have storage spaces that work much like cookies, called local storage and session storage (which empties when you close the tab). Items in them stay on your device and are never sent to us. These are all the items the site, or a service on it, can put there:

Kind
Strictly necessary, for security. Cloudflare explains it in its Turnstile privacy addendum.

Cloudflare can also set a cookie named cf_clearance when a site turns on a feature it calls pre-clearance. We don't use that feature, so that cookie is never set here.

Privacy rules such as the European Union's ePrivacy Directive ask for your consent before a site stores anything that isn't needed for what you came to do. Items that are strictly necessary, such as a security check, or that you asked for, such as a setting you chose, don't need consent. Everything above is one or the other, so a banner would ask you to agree to nothing.

If we ever add something that does need your consent, such as analytics, we will ask you first, with “Reject” as easy to choose as “Accept”, and we will update this page before we do.

Cookie settings

There is nothing to switch on or off. Everything above is either needed for the site to work or something you asked it to remember, so there is no choice to make. If we ever add something optional, a banner will ask you first, and this is where you will be able to change your mind.

How to remove them

  • Your accessibility settings: open the accessibility settings button and press Reset all.
  • The paused animation: press Play on the animation at the top of the home page.
  • The closed bar: it comes back on its own when you close the tab.
  • Everything at once: clear this site's data in your browser's settings, usually under Privacy or Site settings.

You can also block local storage altogether. The site still works: it simply won't remember your choices from one visit to the next.

How we checked

We didn't write this page from memory. On 5 November 2026 we opened every page of the site in Chrome and in Safari's engine, at phone and desktop sizes, and recorded every cookie the server and the browser could set and everything put in browser storage, inside every frame too. We did it first without touching anything, then after using each control that remembers a choice, then after starting to fill in the contact form. We check again whenever we add anything to the site.
